“Intuitive, authentic, and full of ruthless rhythms, Madalitso will make you clap, dance, smile and dance some more.” It's been an extraordinary few years for this dance folk duo, who until 2017, hadn't left their native Malawi. The decade spent roaming the streets as a pair, and perfecting their home-made instruments and vibrant playing style, seems to have paid off - since their first performance on an international stage at Sauti Za Busara in Zanzibar 6 years ago, the rollercoaster ride hasn't stopped!
After 5 European tours, with concerts at WOMAD, Roskilde and WOMEX, in April 2023 the band finally put together their first national tour of Malawi - 10 concerts throughout the country. Even with all these performances, the band remains quite unknown both locally and internationally.
There is a hope that 2023 might change things as the band embark upon a four month, 80 concert tour of Europe and the USA, to come back to Africa in October, with a slot booked at Acces in Dar El Salaam, with a first Southern African tour coming together...
